What is ADHD?

ADHD is a neuro-developmental disorder in which children/youth/adults cope with symptoms of inattention, and/or hyperactivity and impulsivity.  Parenting style, coping strategies, changing environment, and education can help support ADHD people to reach their potential.

What type of programs are offered?

The upcoming Saturday work shops are educational formats that are presented by ADHD experts in the field.  The presentations incorporate the knowledge of child and adult psychiatrists, nurse clinicians, clinical psychologists, and educators.  The teen workshop will focus on the developmental needs, organizational strategies, drug and alcohol, driving, education needs and choices, mindfulness, and coping strategies.

The school workshop will focus on assisting parents and young adults make the best of the school environment and how to meet their individual needs to maximize their potential and be able to meet their individual goals and dreams.

The 6 week parenting program is a combination of education, peer support and experiential learning.  The sessions are facilitated by our nurse clinicians and therapists. The 6 week parenting program will examine the Neuro-biology of ADHD and recent research, co-morbid diagnosis, positive parenting and behaviour strategies, nutritional guidance, sleep disorders, family challenges, relationship issues, school, education and advocacy.
